"Thanks to the CarCube, we will be able to noticeably limit the rising costs for our fleet this year."
A good price/performance ratio
„Our project team reached a unanimous decision of 6:0 votes in favor of implementing the CarCube.”
The Sievert Handel Transporte GmbH (sht) is a mid-size logistics company and a division of the Sievert Baustoffgruppe. The fleet of the company headquartered in Lengerich consists of about 250 vehicles operating domestically as well as in foreign countries and traveling a total distance of approx. 20 million kilometers per year. In 2010, the company and its approx. 360 employees recorded an annual turnover of more than 90 million EUR.
The initial situation
The goal of sht lies in the continual improvement of efficiency in all business areas. In particular, the costs of operating its fleet are to be reduced by recording, evaluating and analyzing the consumption data of its trucks, by improving the utilization of the individual vehicles through tracking and transmitting their status, as well as by optimizing the planning of routes through the use of navigation systems. The procurement of a new, technically powerful fleet management system was viewed as one of the keys for enhancing efficiency.
“We had analyzed the majority of the systems known in Germany. In the end, we found the complete solution of Trimble’s CarCube most convincing since all of our requirements were fulfilled at a good price/performance ratio,” says Volker Lauxtermann,
Director of the Lengerich company. “Moreover, the system convinces through its simple operability via touch screen as well as through the future-oriented technology that also facilitates the integration of future applications. Another argument for the CarCube was its simple link-up to our forwarding software. In the end, our project team reached a unanimous decision of 6:0 votes in favor of implementing the CarCube.”
“We expect that we will be able to noticeably limit the rising costs for our fleet this year thanks to the CarCube. By recording and analyzing telemetric data, we will clearly reduce the continually rising fuel costs, which by now account for one fourth of our total costs. Likewise, we have been using a driving trainer for several months now,” says Volker Lauxtermann. “The monthly costs for the CarCube are transparent and can be calculated. We expect to generate additional benefits balancing the rising costs.”
