LogiMAT 2013: Professional Services from Trimble for more efficiency

Trimble extends its fleet management range: the company is to present its new FleetExpress mobile telematic solution for Android (FleetXps) at LogiMAT 2013 in Stuttgart. The smartphone application complements the CarCube onboard computer and provides all the key telematic data without having to fit trucks with permanently installed equipment. Trimble will explain how logistics service providers can get even more out of telematics at Stand 365, Hall 5 of the Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow from 19 to 21 February 2013.

  • Android app delivers transport data without fixed installation
  • Application is ideal complement to CarCube onboard computer
  • Professional Services provide increased efficiency

"The increasing number of exhibitors shows the priority of an efficient flow of information in every area of our trade.  As a telematics provider, we have the right solutions," says Carsten Holtrup, General Manager of Trimble Transport & Logistics Deutschland and, as Vice President of the corporate division, responsible for sales in Europe.  The aim of participating in the trade fair is to provide interested transport and logistics service providers with information about the versatility and commercial benefit of a professional telematic solution.

The manufacturer of the CarCube onboard computer takes the fair's slogan "Intralogistics - direct. Market place for innovations" literally, and is presenting FleetXps, its latest product innovation, at LogiMAT for the first time. The mobile telematic application provides such functionalities as the transmission and reception of order and status reports and activity capture and GPS location in real time. A simple series of questions also guides the driver through the time recording and registration of the activities performed. In addition, the application has a built-in bar code scanner function and the capability to capture digital signatures. All the user needs is a mobile phone with a camera. "That makes the application the ideal added feature for transport companies wanting to integrate their subcontractors cost-efficiently into the logistics process, for example," says Holtrup.

In order to exploit the potential of a telematic solution like the CarCube onboard computer even better, Trimble offers individual consultancy services to improve efficiency. With the premium Professional Service, the logistics companies' existing IT processes are analysed and optimised and the user's value added thereby permanently increased. As a result, the return on investment (ROI) is achieved faster and the cost-effectiveness of corporate transport processes is improved. "We help companies to identify and use the hidden potentials of high-performing logistics IT," says Holtrup. What that can mean is demonstrated by Spedition Stöhr of Rottenacker near Ulm, which was able to reduce fuel by ten percent within a few months with the help of CarCube and a bonus system for drivers.
