Trimble extends its fleet management range: the company is to present its new FleetExpress mobile telematic solution for Android (FleetXps) at LogiMAT 2013 in Stuttgart. The smartphone application complements the CarCube onboard computer and provides all the key telematic data without having to fit trucks with permanently installed equipment. Trimble will explain how logistics service providers can get even more out of telematics at Stand 365, Hall 5 of the Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow from 19 to 21 February 2013.
To increase the depth of its mobile telematic solutions, Trimble is now adding a bar code scanner and the capability to capture digital signatures to its Android app FleetXps. The company, which has its German headquarters in Münster, will also present all its other new solutions for integrated fleet management at Stand 535, Hall 5 of LogiMAT 2013 in Stuttgart between 19 and 21 February.

Farm Trans has fitted 150 trucks with a CarCube, the onboard computer from Trimble Transport & Logistics. Thanks to the CarCube the drivers of the specialist in chilled and frozen goods transport and the transport of organic raw materials drive far fewer kilometres and use a good deal less fuel than before. That means that Farm Trans will recoup their investment within six months. The onboard computers were integrated with Mitoz TMS and the salary management system from LogicWay in a very short space of time. Director Theo Bos from Farm Trans: “We are now pulling ahead in the market, and for the time being no-one is going to take that lead away from us.”

The AVEVE Group has recently invested in a hundred Trimble CarCube onboard computers for its parent company’s external carriers and for its subsidiary company Dumoulin’s own trucks. In deploying the onboard computers, AVEVE and Dumoulin, which set much store by innovation and sustainability, are able to cut back waiting times at the animal feed factories substantially. “In addition, it enables us to reduce fuel consumption by a good percentage”, explains Transport Manager Dries Callewaert of Dumoulin NV.
Blokker BV, a division of Blokker Holding to which Bart Smit, Xenos and Leen Bakker also belong, has started to build CarCube onboard computers into its trucks. An extensive selection process was first followed by trialling the CarCube in two trucks. The success of this leads to CarCube being rolled out this year in all 82 vehicles, which the retailer uses to supply its 900 stores in the Netherlands and Belgium. Head of Transport Bert van der Waaij: “The CarCube came out of the selection as the best for replacing our present onboard computers.”
