Trimble introduced today its Android-based FleetXPS mobile on-board tablet for transportation and logistics. With the introduction, Trimble is responding to the growing customer demand for an open platform that is managed by Trimble. The new FleetXPS tablet provides customers an extremely user-friendly fleet management solution with the advantages of a flexible Android platform and replaces the Linux-based FleetXPS on-board computer. In addition to the tablet, Trimble also introduced the next generation user interface for the FleetXPS App, an Android application that enables drivers to perform logistic tasks and activities from their tablets.
Transport company Johs. Martens GmbH & Co. KG Spedition has equipped its towing fleet with Trimble’s CarCube telematics solution and is now reaping efficiency gains. The integrated on-board computer allows the company to capture relevant, precise and reliable vehicle data. The driving behaviour analysis provided by the Driver Performance Portal is also supporting the development of targeted training that focuses on reducing fuel consumption.
As part of ongoing efforts to streamline its fleet management, Werner Ruploh KG has been relying on Trimble’s innovative telematics solutions since 2007. The logistics service provider has selected the CarCube for the second time, equipping all of the 210 lorries in its fleet with the latest generation. Trimble’s software solutions are also supporting Ruploh's back office operations. In addition to the FleetCockpit and FleetWorks resource planning tools and fleet management applications, the company based in Beckum, Germany's Westphalia region, is also using the Performance Portal.
Nedcargo owns 85 trucks which are all equipped with Truck4U and FleetXPS, the on-board telematics solutions from Trimble. The logistics service provider, with six warehouses in the Netherlands, was looking for proven technology. Jurgen Mook, Director Transport and Distribution at Nedcargo said, “Data reliability is crucial. Not only Van Uden but also our clients make important decisions every day based on the data provided by telematics solutions.”
Trimble will be showcasing its next generation CarCube on-board computer at the International Truck, Trailer and Equipment Show held May 5-7 in Melbourne, Australia (stand GP35A). The new CarCube now features a slim, high-resolution and responsive touch-screen with a more powerful processor. As well as offering a 3D map view for navigation, the system now shows drivers precisely where they can change lanes to optimise efficiency. Another new feature is the option of using the CarCube to manage documents such as manuals or safety instructions. To further reduce installation times, Trimble has also modified the dimensions of the CarCube on-board computer to bring it in line with the DIN slot format.

After 10 years of using a legacy telematics solution, the Mousset Group will be adopting a new solution from Trimble to equip its entire fleet in 2016. All of Mousset’s Vendée-based vehicles will be equipped with 672 CarCube on-board computers and about 30 FleetXPS mobile terminals adapted to the collection and processing of logistic information. The Mousset Group is a leading transport services provider in Western France.
Ploeger Logistics implemented the Performance Portal, an innovative analysis tool which allows drivers, driver coordinators and fleet managers to monitor driving behaviour in order to save fuel. It answers many questions such as--Did the driver carry out one long trip or several shorter trips that day? How many hours did they work that day? How were they driving based on the parameters that are set by Ploeger?
In cooperation with SAP, the telematics solutions provider Trimble Transport & Logistics has developed a proof of concept for data exchanges between Trimble systems and the SAP Transportation Management application. This allows continuous exchanges of data between Trimble systems and SAP's Transportation Management (TM) and Event Management (EM) applications. The prototype will be presented on Trimble's stand at this year's LogiMAT trade fair (Hall 7 | Stand 7B73) from 8 to 10 March in Stuttgart.
Lanfer Logistik GmbH, a logistics service provider, has equipped its fleet with Trimble’s innovative Transport & Logistics telematics solutions. Trimble's CarCube telematics system was installed in 340 of the Meppen-based company's tractors. Lanfer has also implemented Trimble's FleetWorks and FleetCockpit back office applications. The Meppen-based logistics specialist's goal is to significantly increase the productivity of its transport division.
