Van Reenen Chooses Trimble's Latest Telematics Solutions to Share Logistics Information Faster with its Clients
Trimble announced today that logistics provider Van Reenen in Barneveld (the Netherlands) will be implementing Trimble’s new modular telematics solutions to replace its CarCube onboard computers. The new implementation will consist of the mobile and robust on-board computer FleetXPS and the built-in OBU Truck4U. Truck4U provides real-time fleet management and FleetXPS collects and processes current logistics information. Van Reenen’s goal is to improve customer service by directly sharing digital proof of delivery information and pictures. Van Reenen completed an extensive test period and will begin to outfit its entire fleet with the new on-board computer systems in early 2015.
“The decision to invest in FleetXPS and Truck4U is an ideal choice,” said Jan van de Geer, IT responsible at Van Reenen. "In recent years, we have invested heavily in modernizing our IT infrastructure. All of the components work well together but we missed a modern device that allows us to process digital signatures and take pictures of loads." Van de Geer describes the choice for Trimble as that of 'the right balance' in terms of technology, manageability and reliability, and he's convinced that the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for Van Reenen is the best in this case.
Responding to a Paperless Data Stream
At Van Reenen, transmitting real-time logistics information and providing increased service to its customers were the missing links in the IT landscape of communication components. "We observed that customers appreciate it if we supply them with accurate information," said Van de Geer. With the new Trimble devices, as soon as a shipment has been delivered or picked up, Van Reenen can submit in real-time the digital signature, and if necessary, a picture to the TMS Transpas Enterprise of Art Systems. "If our drivers come across a badly stacked pallet, they can capture the situation instantly." The IT responsible expects all Benelux activities of the logistics service provider to transition to paperless quickly. "Within this process, FleetXPS and Truck4U are absolutely the best solution."
Continuity in our IT Development
What played a significant part in the purchase of the new Trimble devices is the fact that the equipment and software are of industrial quality and based on the latest technology. Having used Trimble’s CarCube onboard computers in the past, Van Reenen can take advantage of the latest technology for smooth communications between the drivers and the back office. "We spent very few hours on processing the drivers' data and did not want to make concessions in that field by choosing an unproven solution. In addition, the Trimble solution gives us the ability to ensure continuity in our IT development for the following years."
