In cooperation with SAP, the telematics solutions provider Trimble Transport & Logistics has developed a proof of concept for data exchanges between Trimble systems and the SAP Transportation Management application. This allows continuous exchanges of data between Trimble systems and SAP's Transportation Management (TM) and Event Management (EM) applications. The prototype will be presented on Trimble's stand at this year's LogiMAT trade fair (Hall 7 | Stand 7B73) from 8 to 10 March in Stuttgart.

"Many people in the transportation and logistics sector have been eagerly anticipating a direct and reliable method for exchanging data between our systems and SAP TM applications. So we are even more delighted to have now produced, in dialogue with SAP, a proof of concept that allows just that," commented Carsten Holtrup, Vice President Sales & Marketing with Trimble Transport & Logistics.

Coordinated interfaces allow all data from the Trimble CarCube, FleetXPS, Truck4U telematics solutions and the FleetXPS app to be integrated in the SAP system modules with no additional intermediate steps. All relevant transport information can then be transferred from the Trimble telematics solutions to the SAP Transportation Management application. Information flows take place in real time, allowing target-actual comparisons to be made at any point. These comparisons then provide a starting point to immediately identify any discrepancies in transport processes and initiate the appropriate corrective actions. The interface also promises benefits in relation to service aspects as well as improved monitoring of operational costs for items such as fuel and idle times.

"In this respect, as well as representing genuine added value for many carriers and logistics service providers, the interface also provides another strong reason for choosing Trimble in future," continued Mr Holtrup.
